Matt Forte Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection
Matt Forte is entering Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons with all the momentum in the world. He is coming off his best performance of the year against the Carolina Panthers; not so much for what he could do between the tackles but because of what he accomplished with his hands and feet when he got passed the line of scrimmage.
Forte was a crucial part in the Chicago Bears‘ pass game last week, catching a career-high 12 receptions. All of his catches were within five yards of the line of scrimmage, but the talented running back still managed to acquire 105 yards in total receiving yardage, a whopping 100 of them were yards after catch. Forte finally found the end zone for the first time this year on a short 10-yard pass play. On top of all of this, he still ran the ball 17 times for 61 yards.
Catching the ball is all in a day’s work for Forte, as he appears to be a favorite of Jay Cutler. Forte averages seven receptions a game on top of 14 carries. Ka’Deem Carey is no threat at taking any touches away from Forte, unless he needs a spell. Carey is a very distant second on the Bears’ running back depth chart, so don’t expect him to play the role of touchdown vulture anytime soon.
Week 6 has potential to be an even bigger day for Matt Forte’s owners. The Falcons’ rush defense is abysmal. They give up an average of 148 yards to opposing teams and have allowed a league-leading 10 rushing touchdowns. Running backs have averaged about 28 points in standard scoring leagues against Atlanta. With Matt Forte’s ability as a dual threat and the amount of work he is given each game, expect another huge output. He should be the MVP of your fantasy team this week if you own him.
Matt Forte Week 6 Projections: 15 carries for 85 yards and one touchdown. Five receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown.
