Anquan Boldin Week 6 Fantasy Prediction

When Anquan Boldin was acquired by the San Francisco 49ers after the Super Bowl from the Baltimore Ravens, people were crying foul left and right. After all, one of the most pivotal players of the Super Bowl winners was traded for a sixth-round pick. Yes, a sixth-rounder. While Boldin is a good player, the trade seems fair for both sides looking back on it.

This year, Boldin hasn’t been producing at all. It’s partially due to all the weapons Colin Kaepernick has at his disposal. Spreading the ball around is a tactic many other successful teams do, including the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. The 49ers also have a very successful run duo with Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde, so Boldin’s targets are decreased even more.

Boldin has yet to grab his first touchdown all year, and his best performance was in Week 1, where he snagged eight balls for 99 yards. He hasn’t received that many targets since that week, and it only looks downhill from here. This week, the 49ers go up against a St. Louis Rams defense, which has been one of the worst defenses in this year’s season. While this could be seen as a positive, they are actually good against the pass. Jim Harbaugh should recognize this and dominate them with the run game.

While Boldin is a great player, the combination of his lack of production, amount of talent on the 49ers and St. Louis pass defense will lead to a lackluster game for him.

Final Prediction: three catches, 36 yards and zero touchdowns.
