Rob Gronkowski Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection

TE Rob Gronkowski has taken steps back since his first three seasons in the NFL, but the five-year veteran is still a productive player, especially in the red zone when the field gets smaller. With an inexperienced receiving group, Tom Brady‘s best friend in the red zone is Gronkowski and there is no question about it.

Gronk and Brady have a ton of chemistry when it comes to scoring touchdowns and that is something he has always done in the past against the New York Jets.

The Jets will travel north to play the New England Patriots, and coming into the game reeling at 1-5, the Patriots could be in for a blowout here as they will have the opportunity to absolutely obliterate a division rival. The Jets’ secondary is one of the worsts in the league. That being said, Gronkowski will have himself a field day given the talent that will be covering him. With the injury to Stevan Ridley, the Patriots will likely throw the ball more on Thursday and that means more chances for Gronkowski.

The one interesting thing this week is that there is a good chance Brady might not play this weekend. The veteran suffered a significant ankle injury over the weekend and that could be huge given they play in a few days.

At first glance, this might seem bad for Gronkowski’s fantasy prospects for Week 7, but if Brady goes down, rookie Jimmy Garoppolo will get the start. When the Eastern Illinois product came in against the Kansas City Chiefs at the end of the game, Garoppolo threw the ball to Gronkowski four times and the rookie also found Gronk in the end zone. Whether it is Brady or Garoppolo playing, Gronkowski is in for a big performance in Week 7.

Week 7 fantasy football projection: eight catches, 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
