Mid-Season Fantasy Awards

The fantasy football season is quickly moving along and we are already at the midway point. There is still a lot of football left to play, but it never hurts to go through the numbers. So if the season were to end right now, here are the fantasy football awards I would hand out.

Luck is leading the league with 17 touchdown passes and 1,987 passing yards. He has thrown seven picks on the year, but he has added two rushing touchdowns as well. Luck is the clear-cut fantasy MVP through the first half of the 2014 season and the former first overall pick is well on his way to becoming the next Peyton Manning.

MVP Runner Up: RB DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys

Murray has been unstoppable this season. He has already amassed 785 rushing yards, including at least 100 yards in all six contests. He has also scored six touchdowns and added another 155 yards through the air. Murray fell well into the second round this summer, but he is currently the number one back in all of fantasy.

Peterson was the number one pick across the board this summer, but it has been a disastrous season for AP. He hasn’t played since Week 1, and with reports circling about him being done for the season, Peterson could turn out to be one of the biggest fantasy busts of all-time. Of all the years to own AP!

Biggest Bust Runner Up: WR Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

Johnson was arguably the top wideout off the board this summer. He was a fixture in the first round and started off the year with a nasty 164 yards and 2 TDs in the opener. Unfortunately, due to an ankle injury, he hasn't amassed double-digit fantasy points since then. He will be out again this weekend and could even miss the remainder of the month.

Best Waiver Wire Pickup: RB Justin Forsett, Baltimore Ravens

He may have started the year behind both Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce, but Forsett has run away with the starting gig in Baltimore. He is currently ranked eighth overall in running back points in standard ESPN leagues and the veteran has quietly emerged as a RB2 in all formats. If you were able to steal him off the waiver wire at some point this season, then consider yourself lucky.
