Fantasy Football Week 7 Start or Sit: Ahmad Bradshaw

Fantasy Football Ahmad Bradshaw

Here’s a fun fact: a running back is tied for the fourth most receiving touchdowns this season with five. You’d probably expect that running back to be Matt Forte or LeSean McCoy. But no, it’s Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw. No one ever really doubted Bradshaw’s prospects this season, even behind Trent Richardson. But before this season, he only had three receiving touchdowns in his his seven-year career. Now, he poses as a legitimate receiving threat capable of multi-touchdown games.

Bradshaw’s receiving success has led to him ranking as the seventh best fantasy football running back option. This week, he heads into a matchup against a stout Cincinnati Bengals run defense; a defense that has not allowed a receiving touchdown yet this season. They’ve hardly allowed a point per game from receiving from running backs. But is it more their protection plans or the backs they’ve faced so far?

It’s really tough to say who’s the best receiving RB the Bengals have faced. It’s probably Justin Forsett, who had six targets when playing them. However, he’s hardly the receiving threat Bradshaw appears to be this season. So we meet an impasse — Bradshaw is going to tread unknown territory this week. If I had to make a prediction, I would say Bradshaw fails to find the end zone through the air this week, but he will take one in through the ground for the first time this season. The Bengals are expecting an air strategy with him, so look for some counter play-calling to open up the lanes for him this week.

That being said, he’ll have six points from a score, as well as 50-65 yards from scrimmage. That’s not quite RB1 numbers on all rosters, but it’s certainly enough to start him as your RB2 or FLEX option this week.
