Haven’t heard about Austin Davis yet? Well, ever since he got the starting position at quarterback with the St. Louis Rams, he’s been making quite the name for himself so far. Stepping in due to the season-ending injury to Sam Bradford, Davis started off poorly, but over time started to really hone his craft. When it comes to his fantasy football value, his stock has been steadily rising with each passing week.
If Davis is currently available via the waiver wire in your fantasy football league, make it your priority to acquire him immediately. He’s on pace to have a rather good season as he really starts to get into a comfort zone of executing offensive plays with ease and precision. He’s starting to play smarter and not throw into double coverages or for a pick-six.
As he prepares to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 action, Davis is currently riding a huge victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Austin played very well, going 18 of 21 for 152 yards and two touchdowns — with the best stat of them all being not a single interception.
With Austin proving he has what it takes to succeed even in the harshest of environments on the road, fantasy owners should definitely start putting him in their lineup, even as a QB2 option. While the majority should have a well-established QB1 option this far into the season, Davis over time will only get better and continue to make a case that he shouldn’t be overlooked.
Overall, Davis is worth investing in because he has the skills and abilities to continue improving his progression. He’s won some tough games and could be a surprise hit to fantasy football owners down the road that don’t mind taking a risk starting him come game day.
