The NBA season tips off this week, and this means that plenty of fantasy basketball drafts have been taking place. For example, I'm involved in three drafts today and one more tomorrow. One of the positions that tends to be a bit top heavy is the SF position. It's even more obvious for 2014-15 with All-Star Paul George out for the season. With that in mind, let's take a look at the top 15 SFs for fantasy basketball this season.
15. Giannis Antetokounmpo - Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo showed off his immense upside in limited action last year by averaging 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists while playing 24.6 minutes per game. This season, new head coach Jason Kidd plans to loosen the leash on the "Greek Freak", and he has a great chance to win the Most Improved Player of the Year award. It also doesn't hurt that this 19-year-old grew from 6-foot-9 to 6-foot-11 over the summer and continues to improve.

In the 36 games that Harris started in last season, he averaged 15.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 82 percent from the charity stripe. Unfortunately, it's still unclear as to how Jacque Vaughn plans to use him this season especially since he used Harris as a reserve in the final 19 games of the season. At the very least, Harris will have chances to start while Channing Frye is still on the shelf.
13. Andrew Wiggins - Minnesota Timberwolves

This summer was quite the roller coaster for the pride of Thornhill, Ontario. At first it seemed as if he would get to learn from LeBron James as a teammate, but now it seems like he'll need to learn lessons from King James whenever Minnesota plays the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, due to being traded to a rebuilding Timberwolves team, Wiggins will have plenty of opportunities to develop his elite level potential. He is a top-two fantasy rookie.
12. Luol Deng - Miami Heat

The former Chicago Bull landed in an ideal situation in Miami as LeBron James' replacement. He will take on the 38 minutes per game that James left behind, and this could be a return to form for Deng as he is a great source of rebounds and assists. Additionally, due to the health concerns with Dwyane Wade, the Heat may need to lean on Deng a bit more. It's not crazy to think that he can average 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game.
11. Trevor Ariza - Houston Rockets

Last year with the Washington Wizards, Ariza finished as a Top-30 fantasy player by averaging 14.4 ponts, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.3 three-pointers a game. As a member of the Houston Rockets replacing Chandler Parsons, Ariza has a great opportunity to be the third scoring option behind James Harden and Dwight Howard. There have been some concerns about his inconsistency in the past, but this won't be one of those years.

Say hello to the favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award this season. This doesn't only refer to real-life basketball, but in the world of fantasy hoops as well. Parker is the prototypical star NBA prospect standing at 6-foot-8 with a seven-foot wingspan. His offensive arsenal resembles that of All-Star Carmelo Anthony except he can also provide one block per game. He should be the first rookie drafted in any league of any format.
9. Josh Smith - Detroit Pistons

Last season was a disappointment for Josh Smith as the Detroit coaching staff didn't use him properly. Smith is not built to be a three-point shooting SF and it was painfully obvious as he suffered a career low in field goal percentage with an abysmal 41.9. New head coach Stan Van Gundy will know how to maximize Smith's talents, and he should see a return to his career FG percentage of 46 percent. Another disappointing season is highly unlikely.
8. Gordon Hayward - Utah Jazz

Hayward continues to improve each year and last season was no different. His averages of 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game made him a Top-10 fantasy SF. It also led to a very nice payday for him as the Utah Jazz signed him to a four-year, $ 63 million contract. The only knock on Hayward's game is his field goal percentage of 41.3, but look for this to improve significantly for the 2014-15 season.
7. Chandler Parsons - Dallas Mavericks

The former Florida Gator has been one of the most underrated fantasy players over the past two seasons. There are many who don't realize that Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, four assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 three-pointers a game last season. He also shot 47 percent from the field as the third scoring option in Houston. He will now be the third option in Dallas, and he should easily repeat or improve on his 2013-14 numbers.
6. Rudy Gay - Sacramento Kings

Regardless of which team he's been on, Rudy Gay has been a Top-35 fantasy contributor for most of his eight-year career. After being traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Sacramento Kings last season, Gay fit in nicely with the Kings as he averaged 20 points, six rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He literally has no competition for minutes in Sacramento, so another Top-35 overall and Top-10 SF finish is a lock unless he gets hurt.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has a well-rounded fantasy game. He may not be a master in a specific category, but he is certainly a jack of all trades. Last season, he averaged 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.8 three-pointers, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game with good percentages. He is a third-round talent who constantly ends up being selected in the fourth round or later. Expect him to repeat his 2013-14 numbers without any issues.
4. Kawhi Leonard - San Antonio Spurs

Kawhi Leonard became a household name for casual fans after his NBA Finals MVP performance to defeat the Miami Heat. However, most savvy fantasy hoops players knew that Leonard was a easily a Top-10 fantasy player after the All-Star Break. During that span, he averaged 14.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.2 blocks and 1.4 three-pointers with outstanding percentages. On an aging Spurs team, Leonard is set to truly break out this season.
3. Kevin Durant - Oklahoma City Thunder

The reigning league MVP was also the MVP of fantasy basketball. He led the league in scoring by averaging 32 points a game while also producing 7.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.4 three-pointers and 1.2 steals a game. Additionally, he shot 50 percent from the field and 87 percent for free throws. He would clearly be No. 1 on this list, but he will miss 20-25 games this year recovering from an injury. However, he will be No. 1 once he returns.
2. Carmelo Anthony - New York Knicks

Melo is a clear-cut fantasy monster who is always a threat to take the scoring title and provides a great source of rebounds and three-pointers. His 2013-14 averages of 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 three-pointers per game are clear proof of his fantasy dominance. He may see an increase in assists this year as he learns the triangle offense via Phil Jackson and that only increases his fantasy stock for 2014-15.

Due to Kevin Durant's injury, James gets to enjoy another year as the top fantasy SF on the board. Granted, he will finally turn 30 this season and his offensive output may drop slightly due to the presence of younger stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. However, James may still see an increase to his gaudy 57 percent shooting from the field last season and should generate more steals and blocks. Therefore, James is the top fantasy SF for 2014.
