While the Jacksonville Jaguars have gotten their first win of the season and started to show signs of life in recent weeks, there have been some interesting Fantasy Football options that have started to emerge. Obviously people are rightfully keeping an eye on the recently productive Denard Robinson at running back, but that’s not the only place they should be looking.
Rookie wide receiver Allen Robinson has arguably been the most reliable target in the Jaguars’ passing game. Since the shocking week one performance where it seemed as if Allen Hurns was the only receiver on Jacksonville’s roster, Robinson hasn’t had fewer than five catches in a game and has had fewer than 50 yards receiving in only one game.
Given the amount of work that he’s been getting over the season, Robinson has been a solid flex-play in PPR leagues for some time now. It’s not until recently that his value in standard leagues has started to climb even higher.
Over the past two weeks, Robinson has combined to haul in nine catches for 142 yards. The most important thing from the past two weeks in terms of fantasy, though, is the fact that he scored a touchdown in each of the past two weeks, his first two times reaching the endzone this season.
Obviously you can’t count on touchdowns from receivers, which are always fluky to a certain degree. However, there is something to be said about a player that has been taking on the work that Robinson has for the Jags so far this season and that he didn’t find the endzone until week seven. That seems like bad luck more than anything.
Some of his bad luck may stem from the fact that Blake Bortles is his quarterback right now, which might deter some fantasy owners from slotting Robinson in at wide receiver this week. Given the fact that the Jags are up against a Cincinnati Bengals defense that has been shaky of late and with a lot of big-name receivers on bye in week nine, Robinson is someone you should slide in your lineup this week.
