In Week 8, Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown broke out in a big way as the Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20. Available in over 90 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues, Brown had a career day hauling in five of his 10 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown, good enough for 17 fantasy points. The Cardinals have a very dangerous weapon in Brown with his ability to be a game-breaking threat every time he touches the ball.

Brown heads into his Week 9 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys tied for second on the team with Andre Ellington and Michael Floyd with 43 targets. Along with those 43 targets, Brown ranks first on the team with four touchdowns. The rookie speedster has drawn comparisons to DeSean Jackson early on is young career, and has become a consistent deep threat for Carson Palmer in the passing game.

The Cowboys have been no slouch at defending against opposing WRs, giving up only 13.8 fantasy points per game. However, they did expose a weakness in their secondary Monday night, when Jackson to burned them a few times on deep plays for the Washington Redskins. There’s no hiding the fact Palmer loves to air it out, so you can rest assured that he will be targeting Brown down field on numerous occasions this week.

Brown has some decent sleeper potential this week, even if Floyd is healthy. The Cowboys have been burned on a few occasions this year in the passing game, so there is potential for Brown to break one deep in a game that could turn into a shootout. Consider him a WR3 with potential to be a sneaky flex play this week if you are in need.

Brown’s fantasy forecast: four receptions for 76 yards and a TD.
