2014 Fantasy Football: Antonio Brown Is The Top WR

To the surprise of many, the top wideout in fantasy football this season has been Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown. Most thought it would be Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson or Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green, but Brown has continued to distance himself from the rest of the pack. The speedster has showed up each and every week. He has racked up 130 fantasy points on the year in standard ESPN formats and the veteran is truly having a career season.

Brown is second in the league with 852 receiving yards. He has seven touchdowns and has quietly gone over 80 yards in every game this season. Even more impressive, Brown has posted at least five catches and 50 yards in 24 consecutive games. He is having a fantasy season for the ages and is on pace to finish with over 1,700 yards.

The only week that he hasn’t recorded double-digit fantasy points the Week 5 game that he recorded five caught for 84 yards (8 fantasy points). However, that is still a rather respectable outing, especially regarding the inconsistency surrounding the position at the moment.

This week, the Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens. Earlier in the year, Brown caught seven passes for 90 yards against the division foe. It wasn’t exactly an All-Pro outing, but it was still a very productive stat line. This time around, I expect Brown to go over the 100-yard mark this time around and to catch another touchdown.

Brown currently stands on top of the WR mountain and he will show why again this weekend.
