For years, the fantasy baseball world has been waiting for Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton to reach his real potential. He has come close in previous seasons, but nagging injuries and cold stretches have limited his numbers.

Stanton slugged 37 home runs this season, which was tops in the National League. He also added 105 RBIs and 89 runs scored. He even had a .288 batting average and a .395 On Base Percentage. He hardly saw pitches inside the strike zone, but when he did, he certainly made them count. It was an all-around MVP caliber fantasy season.

Unfortunately, Stanton’s MVP season came to an abrupt end. The slugger was drilled in the face with a fastball from Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers in a September contest and was immediately rushed to the hospital. He broke several bones in his face and was forced to miss the remainder of the 2014 season. It was exactly the ending we had planned for the slugger.

Luckily, he will make a full return in 2015. He should show no ill effects of the injury and reclaim his spot as the most dangerous sticks in all of fantasy.

Stanton will be worth the first round pick in all formats again next spring. He will once again be near the top of NL power numbers and should finally have the first 40-HR season of his young career.
