Fantasy Football Week 10 Start or Sit: RB Bobby Rainey

In a week that features six teams on a bye, you may be hurting at the running back position. In steps Bobby Rainey for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The running back position has been a revolving door for the Bucs the past two seasons, and that may continue to happen, but this week, you should have faith in Rainey.

Rainey has taken hold of the lead back role in the Bucs’ offense over Doug Martin, and it is a great sight to see. As a Martin owner myself, it became frustrating watching him fail to revert back to his rookie form. Rainey, in his short time as a starter has had much more success running behind a decent offensive line.

Charles Sims is an interesting name in the Bucs’ backfield as he returns from injury, and many expect him to overtake Rainey long-term, but it may take a few weeks before he has a significant role. If anything, Sims will be used primarily as a pass-catcher. Sims hasn’t played in more than two months, so it is unrealistic to expect anything substantial from Sims this week. Rainey, if he can hold on to the ball, won’t need to fear about losing his job in Week 10 to either Sims or Martin.

But perhaps the best reason you should start him is that the Bucs are taking on the Atlanta Falcons and their abysmal rush defense. The Falcons have allowed 13 rushing touchdowns this year, leading the league in that category. They are also allowing 128 yards on the ground, ranking them in the bottom quarter of the league.

Last week against the Cleveland Browns, Rainey had an impressive outing racking up 121 total yards. It would have been more if the Bucs hadn’t inexplicably stopped handing him the ball. Right now, he is the best option on a mediocre offensive team.

Regardless of the talent around him, Rainey is a must-start in fantasy football this week against a porous rush defense.
