Alshon Jeffery Fantasy Football Week 10 Projection

After taking a colossal beating at the hands of the New England Patriots in Week 8, playoff prospects for the Chicago Bears darkened even further during the team’s bye week. With rumors running wild about the job security of Marc Trestman, and a locker room in disarray, the road to redemption seems almost unfathomable for fantasy owners and the Chicago faithful.

In Week 10, the Bears clash with the division rival Green Bay Packers, and that shouldn’t bode well for owners of any Chicago players, especially wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. The Packers come into the game only allowing 248.6 yards per game in the air to the opposition, and only two wide receivers all season have eclipsed the 80-yard mark against their secondary. Yikes.

Jeffery has been a huge disappointment for fantasy owners this season as many expected him to live up to the WR1 hype he was given after his performance last year. However, like many of his teammates, Jeffery has been the definition of inconsistency in 2014, and has really been a boom or bust option week by week.

Jeffery did in fact total 61 yards through the air and found pay dirt in his first contest against Green Bay, but with the Pack finally healthy on the defensive side of the ball, and the Bears’ profound ability to reach a high level of ineptitude at Lambeau Field, owners better beware.

Quarterback Jay Cutler is 1-10 in his career against the Packers, and I look for him to force feed a grumpy Brandon Marshall early and often in an attempt to quiet down the mouth of his biggest playmaker. As a result, Jeffery will almost undoubtedly play second fiddle in Week 10 in what will already be an unfavorable matchup for Chicago.

Sit with some confidence.

Kyle’s Bold Prediction: six targets, four receptions 47 receiving yards and zero TDs.
