Shane Vereen Fantasy Football Week 11 Projection
Playing for the New England Patriots, Shane Vereen is a hit-or-miss type of player and the main reasoning is because of the offense he is playing in. One week, Tom Brady will throw for over 400 yards, and the next week, the Patriots will run for over 200 yards. That alone is the most frustrating thing for fantasy football owners, however, Vereen has a good matchup in Week 11 when the Patriots travel on the road to play the Indianapolis Colts in a game that has the makings of a shootout.
Since Stevan Ridley tore his ACL, Vereen has taken over as the feature back for the Patriots. While Jonas Gray and James White have been impressive, neither bring the talent and ability Vereen brings to the football field. Brady loves Vereen not only out of the backfield as a dynamic target, but Vereen also does a great job reading his holes and following his blockers. Although Vereen’s usage in this offensive scheme is untrustworthy, Vereen has the ability to put up two touchdowns in any given week and that makes him an extremely nice flex play, especially in Week 11.
Since they’re on the road, the Patriots will likely bring a fast-paced offensive tempo because the Colts play on a turf field. Vereen’s speed makes him a dynamic playmaker and the Patriots will be smart enough to use him at will in Week 11. Regardless of his boom-or-bust fantasy prospects, Vereen is a solid flex/RB2 option on Sunday.
Week 11 fantasy football projection: Nine carries for 45 yards, and six catches for 57 yards and a touchdown.
