Who to Start and Who to Sit in Week 11?
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports
I’ll admit I’m not the greatest fantasy football “analyst” out there. I’m currently 7-3 in my work league and have, for some strange reason, been riding Cordarrelle Patterson all season long hoping he’d finally have a breakout game.
Still, my overall football knowledge should be more than enough to get me through this. So here we go. Do you start ‘em, or do you sit ‘em?
FYI: We don’t worry about kickers here at RantSports.
Start ‘Em: QB Robert Griffin III (vs TB)

As crazy as this sounds, Griffin could actually have a whale of a game against the Buccaneers. Not only has the Tampa Bay defense been terrible this season, but they’re playing even worse on the road. As long as Griffin can stay healthy throughout the game, he should be able to rack up at least 250 yards and two touchdowns, with some added value on the ground.

It’s been a very up-and-down season for Wilson, who bounced back and forth between tearing defenses apart and putting up pathetic numbers. This week should lean more towards the latter. The Chiefs bolster one of the best defenses in the NFL, and haven’t been kind to opposing quarterbacks in 2014. Especially with Wilson currently slumping, benching him in Week 11 is the safe bet.
Others to Avoid: Andy Dalton (@ NO), Cam Newton (vs ATL)
Start ‘Em: RB Jerick McKinnon (@ CHI)

The Vikings’ jack of all trades, McKinnon has shown impressive burst and big-play ability during his rookie season. Going up against a laughable Bears defense this week, McKinnon could enjoy his biggest NFL outing yet. Especially coming off a bye week, expect the Vikings to come at the Chicago defense with everything they have, including a hearty helping of McKinnon.
Sleepers: C.J. Anderson (@ STL), Theo Riddick (@ ARI)
Sit ‘Em: RB Andre Williams (vs SF)

Williams’ lack of elite physical tools has proven costly for the Giants offense over the last few weeks. While he certainly offers power and value as a short-yardage back, he’s limited in an every-down role. Now that Rashad Jennings is finally back in the lineup, Williams’ value decreases even more. Williams may vulture a short touchdown this week, but he still belongs on your bench.
Others to Avoid: Lamar Miller (vs BUF), Bobby Rainey (@ WAS)
Start ‘Em: WR DeSean Jackson (vs TB)

I already mentioned Griffin as a must start this week, and he has to throw to someone. That someone will be Jackson, who has enjoyed a tremendous first year in D.C. All season long he’s been using his speed and quickness to beat defenses deep. Especially against a pitiful Tampa Bay defense, Jackson should have little trouble putting up huge numbers – chances are he’ll crack 20 in Week 11.
Sleepers: Malcom Floyd (vs OAK), Jordan Matthews (@ GB)
Sit ‘Em: WR Andre Johnson (@ CLE)

To say that Johnson has been a disappointment this season is a severe understatement. He’s failed to put up double digits in all but one game, and is now going up against Joe Haden and an underrated Cleveland defense. Especially with a new starting quarterback in Ryan Mallett throwing his way, it’s too much of a gamble to count on Johnson for points this week.
Others to Avoid: Dwayne Bowe (vs SEA), Michael Crabtree (@ NYG)
Start ‘Em: TE Travis Kelce (vs SEA)
John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

At face value, this seems like a poor matchup. However, the Seahawks are giving up big numbers to tight ends this season, especially since the Legion of Boom is busy locking down the outsides. What makes Kelce even more intriguing this week is that Anthony Fasano is injured, which will open more opportunities for Kelce to make plays. It’s a perfect storm for big fantasy points.
Sleepers: Kyle Rudolph (@ CHI), Austin Seferian-Jenkins (@ WAS)
Sit ‘Em: TE Mychal Rivera (@ SD)

Rivera has spent the last three weeks heating up for the Raiders, hauling in 21 passes and three touchdowns during that time. However, he’s matched up against a Chargers defense that is very stingy when it comes to tight ends. As tempting as it is to ride the hot hand, chances are San Diego dumps a big bucket of ice water on Rivera this weekend.
Others to Avoid: Martellus Bennett (vs MIN), Heath Miller (vs TEN)
Start ‘Em: D/ST Minnesota Vikings (@ CHI)
Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

The Vikings defense is far from a great defense. However, they’ve racked up the second-most sacks on the season and come up with turnovers here and there. It’s the matchup that makes this so enticing. Jay Cutler has been a mess lately, and is sure to see significant pressure from the Minnesota front four. No matter the final score, the Vikings defense will score points.
Sleepers: Cleveland Browns (vs HOU), San Diego Chargers (vs OAK)
Sit ‘Em: D/ST Philadelphia Eagles (@ GB)

It seems rather difficult to bench the highest-scoring defense in all of fantasy football, but you need to suck it up and do it. As great as the Eagles defense has been this season, a matchup with Aaron Rodgers and the high-flying Packers offense is far from ideal. They may get a few sacks and one turnover, but they’ll give up a ton of points too.
Others to Avoid: New England Patriots (@ IND), Cincinnati Bengals (@ NO)
