Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Eli Manning

If you looked up at the draft board and the only options left at quarterback were Eli Manning or Josh McCown, then you had to know that you were in for a pretty long fantasy football season this year. However, if you actually chose the safer option and went with Manning, then I’d have to say you have been pretty lucky so far this season as he has been fairly productive after an early rough start. But let’s not start counting that prize money just yet because things are about to return to normal beginning this week with his game against the San Francisco 49ers.

If you have been paying attention, then you are already aware of the fact that Manning has been showing glimpses of his old turnover-prone self with two lost fumbles against the Indianapolis Colts and two total turnovers against the Seattle Seahawks. And you should already be expecting a full-blown relapse this week as the 49ers come to town with their punishing defense that’s ranked No. 2 in the league. They may not get a ton of sacks or forced fumbles, but they do have some ball hawks in their secondary and they will be sitting on the short passing game of the Giants just waiting to take one or two to the house.

Manning will be asked to carry the team this week and we all know that without a Plaxico Burress or a Victor Cruz on the field to help him, he will be relying on young and inexperienced receivers to be in the right place at the right time; and that’s always a recipe for disaster. With a slew of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, the Giants will have to score in bunches to keep up and that means more opportunities for Manning to turn the ball over. I expect him to throw for quite a few yards, but look for his usual two to three turnovers to go along with them.

This week, Eli will have 269 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, so I suggest that you sit him this week.
