Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Tre Mason

Sit Tre Mason Week 11

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With four teams on a bye in Week 11, sometimes you are going to have to make some tough decisions as to who to start in your fantasy lineups. Tre Mason will be one of those players this week. Despite clearly being the No. 1 back for the St. Louis Rams over the past two weeks, your best chance to win this weekend will be with Mason on your bench.

Despite the coachspeak from Jeff Fisher that they are going to go with the hot hand in St. Louis and that there is no clear cut starting running back, Tre Mason has received 33 of the 41 running back carries over the past two weeks and has clearly looked like the best back on the roster. However, he has only amassed 113 yards on those 33 carries and has yet to find the end zone since Week 7.

This week, the Rams will play host to the Denver Broncos, who give up the 9th fewest points to the running back position and field the stingiest run defense in the NFL, allowing only 67 rushing yards per game and 3.2 yards per rush. They have yet to allow a running back to rush for more than 88 yards this season and have allowed only five rushing touchdowns.

If you are in a 16 team league like me and have no other options, then Mason might be worth a start based solely on volume. However, if you have any other viable options he should remain on your bench this weekend against one of the premier rushing defenses in the NFL.
