Like most rookie wide receivers, it took Philadelphia Eagles wideout Jordan Matthews about a month to get acclimated to the NFL. Unlike most rookie wide receivers is the way Matthews has burst onto the scene in Fantasy Football as of late. The question is, has he been reliable enough for you to start him in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans? The answer is a resounding yes.
Since Mark Sanchez took over for the injured Nick Foles, Matthews has recorded 15 catches for 285 yards and four touchdowns over the past three weeks. Matthews has clearly overtaken Riley Cooper as the team’s No. 2 wide receiver, and he has put up better numbers than Jeremy Maclin since Sanchez took over.
In Week 12, the Eagles face a 2-8 Titans team that is certainly nothing to fear defensively. The Titans’ pass defense has given up at least 75 yards receiving to the opposing team’s top receiver in each of the last five games. With the game being in Philadelphia and the Eagles looking to bounce back from an embarrassing loss to the Green Bay Packers, it wouldn’t surprise if they score close to 40 points and get back on track this week.
This year’s class of rookie wide receivers is as good as the NFL has ever seen and Matthews is one of the best in the league. With an easy matchup at home against Tennessee, you definitely want Matthews in your lineup no matter the format. I would project Matthews to record six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.
