Fantasy Football Week 12 Sleeper: RB Dan Herron

When Ahmad Bradshaw went down with a leg injury, it was a huge blow to the Indianapolis Colts and fantasy owners who have been using him in their starting lineups. The loss of Bradshaw is a tough pill to swallow, but those in a need of a replacement may not need to look further than Colts’ new No. 2 back Dan Herron.

Trent Richardson is still the main guy in town for the Colts, but Herron should see about 10 carries a game with more to come if he performs well. Herron is a tough, hard-nosed runner and was nicknamed “boom” during his time at Ohio State. The 28-year-old Herron has been in the league for a few years now, but he has never had the chance to prove himself. Now is his time.

In terms of fantasy production, owners should look at Herron as a low No. 3 back with upside. The Colts’ offense loves to spread the ball around and Herron could carve out a nice role for himself if Richardson continues to struggle and he makes the most of his opportunity.

Herron has the chance to make a quick impact for owners because he gets the chance to go up against a weak Jacksonville Jaguars defense in Week 12. Even though we don’t know how the Colts are going to use him just yet, the opportunity to go up against a team that is averaging  126.2 rushing yards allowed per game should help jump start him right out of the gate.

Don’t expect Herron to be Bradshaw or anything like that, but he could prove to be a nice add in deeper leagues with some upside to improve in his role.
