Building The Perfect NBA FanDuel Lineup For Jan. 3

Last night's lineup suffered from a monumental letdown from James Harden along with underachieving performances from Jarrett Jack and Alex Len. It clearly had 300-plus potential, but there is no time to dwell on past disappointments as we have an eight-game slate to sift through for today. Let's take a look at how we can build the perfect NBA FanDuel lineup for tonight and hopefully avoid any high-priced landmines.

On any given night, D-Rose can get you 30-plus fantasy points, but it seems that he needs at least 29 minutes of court time to do so. Over his last 10 games, Rose has eclipsed the 30-fantasy point barrier in every game where he played 29 minutes or more. Tonight, he faces a Boston Celtics team that's been trending negatively in their ability to defend PGs. This lines up well for Rose to flirt with scoring 35-plus and justifying his current price.

Trey Burke faces a Minnesota Timberwolves team tonight that he recently torched for 39.8 fantasy points and he could be poised to do something similar this time around. Minnesota is currently ranked 26th against opposing PGs and may not improve on that until Ricky Rubio returns. Burke needs 27.5 points to make value tonight and he should be able to score within that range at minimum. He won't flirt with 40 again, but he may with 34.

This former UCLA Bruin weaves in and out of hot and cold streaks consistently, but he appears to be getting back on track lately. Over his last five games, he has averaged 20.8 fantasy points and he currently needs 25.5 to justify his price. Tonight, facing a Memphis Grizzlies team that plays defense against every position except the SG, Afflalo could be poised to have a breakout performance. He should score at least 25 with a ceiling of 30.

Ever since shedding his protective mask, Victor Oladipo has seen an improvement in his play. He even admitted himself that the mask was a hindrance and, now that it's gone, he should be poised to have some great performances moving forward. He gets to face a Charlotte Hornets team that's been struggling to guard SGs lately and have been ranked 23rd over their last five games in that regard. Oladipo should score at least 30 with 35-plus upside.

Andrew Wiggins has been on fire as of late, averaging 31.8 fantasy points per game over his last five contests. He seems to be getting more comfortable with his offensive responsibilities each night and he will only improve as the season progresses. Tonight, he faces a Utah Jazz team that he scored 31.5 against the last time they met and he looks poised to repeat something similar. Any expectation for a 30-plus night is a fair one.

Gordon Hayward is one of the most consistent SFs in the NBA right now and he is poised to take the next step into All-Star status within the next couple of years. He will look to continue his effective consistency against a Minnesota Timberwolves team that he scored 33.9 fantasy points on in their last meeting. He needs to score 38.5 to justify his price and, against a Minnesota team ranked 27th against SFs, I feel he will score that or more.

The Los Angeles Clippers are a 19-point favorite against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight so this game will most likely be done before the fourth quarter. However, this doesn't mean you should fade Blake Griffin as he seems to flirt with or exceed 40 fantasy points on every night regardless of the score differential. He needs to score 51.5 to justify his price and he should come close to that number if this contest remains relatively close.

The Manimal has been on an insane run as of late and appears to be more motivated than ever in his young career. Over his last five games, he has averaged 41.8 fantasy points and has been a rebounding machine while doing so. His ability to crash the boards bodes well against the Memphis Grizzlies tonight who should be without Zach Randolph again. This means more rebounding and second chance scoring opportunities for Faried to score at least 35.

Enes Kanter has already been ruled out for this matchup and that bodes extremely well for this young French center. Over his last six games, he has averaged 23.6 fantasy points and needs 24.5 to justify his price tonight. He faces a Minnesota Timberwolves team ranked 29th against opposing centers and, in a starting role, should have no problems exceeding his value and scoring at least 28 with 33-plus upside.
