Fantasy Basketball: Top 10 MVP Candidates

This season, fantasy basketball has been near impossible to predict. Kevin Durant missed a large portion of the season. Then, Russell Westbrook went down for a period as well. LeBron James is struggling in Cleveland, and cannot figure out how to work in a new system. Now, we have a new regime at the top of fantasy basketball.

DeAndre Jordan has been great once again for the Los Angeles Clippers. Being a center, a fantasy owner knows he is going to get points, but Jordan has gone above and beyond. He is averaging 25 points per contest and has a total of over 1,000 points on the season already.

Owners of LaMarcus Aldridge got a scare this week when his initial diagnosis was he would be out of action for six to eight weeks with a ligament tear in his thumb. The big man has decided to play through the pain instead of getting surgery. While that may not be the best for his long-term health, it sure helps fantasy owners who have enjoyed his 26.6 points per contest.

While John Wall is not scoring as much as some centers, being a guard makes him slightly more valuable. Around the 50 mark for forward, you can find Serge Ibaka and Taj Gibson. Around the 50 mark for guards, there is Evan Turner and Manu Ginobili. Wall has been amazing no matter what position he play. Every owner is happy with his production.

There is only one other player in the NBA who averages more fantasy points than DeMarcus Cousins. He is averaging an amazing 32 points per game. However, he has missed time, which explains why he has been dropped in the rankings.
6. Chris Paul

Chris Paul would be higher, but others at his position also have shooting guard eligibility. Paul has been very good in all stats this season. He has slowed down as of late, but that can turn on again at any time. He has scored 1,156 points in ESPN standard leagues.
5. Nikola Vucevic

Nikola Vucevic is the best value in the NBA this season. He was ranked 40th before the season; he was behind players like Derrick Rose, Kemba Walker and only two ahead of Thad Young. He is now the sixth leading scorer in fantasy basketball.
4. Pau Gasol

I lied, this is the best value of the 2014-15 fantasy basketball season. Ranked 59th coming into the season, Pau Gasol is third in fantasy basketball with 1,161 points. He has been everything the Chicago Bulls could have hoped for. He was projected to score 15.6 points per game, but ended up putting up 27.6 every night he is out there.
3. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is becoming one of the biggest superstars in the NBA, and he is also one of the best fantasy players in the sport. He qualifies for both point guard and shooting guard, which gives him immensely more value than someone who is only eligible for one position. He is averaging 27.9 points per game, which is fourth in the league.
2. James Harden

If this was for the NBA MVP, then James Harden would win the award hands down. Unfortunately, this article is talking about the best fantasy players. There is one player who is by far the best there, but Harden is nothing to sneeze at. He is second with 1,275 points on the season. He is literally taking over the league, and probably your fantasy league as well.
1. Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is head and shoulders above everyone in the league. He scores points in nearly every category every night. Despite missing three games recently, he still has more than 35 points more than anyone in the NBA -- that is ridiculous. He is a fantasy superstar, and the most important player in keeper leagues.
