Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
The 2015 fantasy baseball season is almost underway. More and more leagues are becoming dynasty formats, which puts a huge emphasis on prospects. To help you get a head start, here are the top-50 prospects for the 2015 fantasy baseball season.
NOTE: All International prospects were excluded from this list.

With Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte commanding so much money, Bell is another strong hitting outfielder that will have to wait his turn. However, Bell did hit .325 last year to go along with a .375 OBP in 108 games.

Berrios has said that he wants to make the Opening Day roster, and considering the state of Minnesota's rotation, it is a complete possibility. He ended the year with in Triple-A last year and he is clearly the team's most MLB-ready arm in their farm system.

The 2014 first round pick missed a large chunk of the season after being hit in the face with a line drive. In 23 games, he smacked six doubles, two triples and two home runs. He also finished with 16 RBIs and a .280/.344/.476 slash line. If the kid can comeback strong, he will instantly become a keeper worthy prospect.

Stewart has the most potential out of all the Minnesota hurlers, but the 2013 first round pick still has a least two years in the majors. He will also be stuck fellow prospects Alex Meyer and Jose Berrios, which only delays his assentation to the majors that much more.

Blair is yet another young arm awaiting the Twinkies in their farm system. In three stops last year, the monstrous (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) right-hander threw 154.1 innings and struck out a staggering 171 batters. He projects to be a yearly innings eater. His fastball sits around 92-94 MPH, but his misleading changeup (mid-80’s) will help him rack up the K’s.

Gordon did show above-average speed, as he stole 11 bases and scored 46 runs through 57 games. He also finished with a .294 batting average, but his lack of walks (11) limited his OBP to .333. He will have to raise his OBP in order to become Minnesota’s leadoff hitter.

Stephenson was a top-20 prospect last year, but he had a rough going in 2014. He posted a dreadful 4.74 ERA and a horrid 1.38 WHIP. However, he still struck out 140 batters in 136.2 innings. His overall value may have taken a hit, but he still ranks among the top-20 young arms in all of fantasy.

43. SP Mark Appel, Houston Astros
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
Appel was the first overall pick in the 2013 draft, and after his career at Stanford, he deservingly had a ton of hype in fantasy circles. However, he had a disastrous 2014 campaign. He posted a 3-7 combined between High-A and Double-A to go along with a dreadful 6.91 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. At 23 years old, he still has time to work through his issues, but his overall stock has dropped significantly.

Pompey has above average speed (43 SBs in 2014) and projects to an everyday cenerfielder. He is a switch-hitter, and even though he hit only nine homers all of last year, he still managed to smack 22 doubles and nine triples. Pompey will be a spark plug atop Toronto's lineup by 2016.

Conforto was the most polished hitter in the 2014 MLB Draft and the former Oregon State standout has fantasy stud written all over him. He only played in 42 games in Single-A, but his impressive .331 batting average/.403 OBP was worth taking note of. An everyday outfield job is waiting for Conforto and the outfielder will likely reach the majors by 2016.

Winker tore the cover off the ball last season. He finished with a .287/.399/.518 slash line and slugged 15 homers with 57 RBIs in 74 games. He missed time with a wrist injury, but it wasn’t the type of injury to linger long term. Winker will be a top-20 hitting prospect until he finally gets the call.

Butler has good size (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) and hammers the lower half of the strike zone. He averages around 93-96 MPH on the radar gun, but the right-hander can consistently do it for over five innings. Butler had a brief cup of coffee with Colorado last season and he has top of the rotation arm written over him.

Renfroe posted a strong .267/.342/.470 slash line to go along with 21 homers in 129 games. Unfortunately, he must have the worst luck among all the prospects. He looked as if he was a shoe-in for the majors this year, but after the team acquired Matt Kemp, Justin Upton and Wil Myers this offseason, the prospect likely won’t be getting a promotion any time soon.

Alfaro is one of the top prospect backstops in all of fantasy. He displayed outstanding power last season by slugging 26 double, five triples and 17 home runs in 121 minor league games. He also hit .261, and with his .262 career average, the slugger should finish with a .260-.270 average and 20 HRs on a yearly basis.

The shortstop is the son of former Major Leaguer Raul Mondesi (pictured above), so he comes with a strong MLB pedigree. He has 52 stolen bases in 285 career minor league contests to go along with 150 runs scored. However, that fact that he has only drawn two walks in 1,124 MiLB at-bats is extremely concerning, especially if he wants to become a top of the order hitter.

Sanchez enjoyed a brief cup of coffee in the majors last season (33 IP), but he will still be rookie eligible in most dynasty formats. He has a nasty heater that averaged 97.1 MPH last season with a respectable curveball/changeup combo. Sanchez will be the ace of this staff sooner rather than later.

Mazara finished his break out 2014 campaign with an impressive 28 doubles and 22 home runs. He also drove in 89 runs with a .271/.362/.478 slash line. The lefty could thrive at Rangers Ballpark. He will 20 at the beginning of the year, so don’t expect to see him until 2016 at the earliest.

Taillon’s 16-21 minor league record is not the most promising stat, but he has still amassed 140 innings in back-to-back seasons, including a career-high 147.1 in 2014. He also fanned 143 batters last year with a 3.73 ERA. Taillon will be a strong No. 2 or No. 3 hurler in Steel City before too long.

Among all the Miami hurlers, Kolek is perhaps the most underrated. This kid can average 95-98 MPH on his fastball and can even hit 100 MPH on the radar gun. He will shine in the pitcher-friendly environment of Marlins Park, so make sure to keep him near the top of any prospect rankings this spring.

Pittsburgh’s outfield is crowded with Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte, but they can’t only hold off Meadows for so long. He has more potential than fellow outfield prospect, Josh Bell, and Meadows put up crazy numbers in 2014. He posted a .317 batting average in 45 games to go along with 15 doubles, two triples and three homers. The lefty is still only 19 years old, so he will have to take another year or two to make it through the system.

Meyer has the size (6-foot-9, 220 pounds) of a basketball player, which makes him quite the figure on the mound. He fanned 153 batters in 130.1 innings last season. The 25-year-old doesn’t have much of long-term value, but he has a couple of strong seasons ahead of him. He is easily the top arm in the team’s farm system.

The Red Sox stole Rodriguez from the Orioles in a deadline deal for reliever Andrew Miller. Rodriguez may be an underrated prospect right now, but his numbers speak for themselves. The young southpaw posted career best ERA of 3.26, to go along with 418 batters K's in 486.1 innings. He isn’t a true ace, but he will be a decent middle of the rotation arm for the BoSox.

At 6-foot-7, 230 pounds, Judge is a power hitter in the making. He slugged 17 home runs last year with 89 RBIs, but he also finished with a .308 batting average. Judge has quickly become the team’s top prospect with the Yanks.

He posted a .309/.347/.500 slash line with 49 extra base hits and a respectable 18 stolen bases. Dahl is a serious power stick and it is only a matter of time until he starts sending balls into the deep parts of Coors Field.

Peraza has been a well-kept secret over the last year, but has changed after his break out performance in 2014. The Venezuelan infielder recorded an unthinkable .339 batting average runs in 110 games. He also stole 63 bases, which was his second 60-steal season in a row. The speedster may have only hit two homers, but he still added 20 double and 11 triples. Peraza will be one of the top prospect sticks off the board this year.

Bradley was the top pitching prospect last season across the board, as he posted an unthinkable 14-5 record in 2013 with an 1.84 ERA. Unfortunately, his 3-7 record and 4.45 ERA in 2014 was an utter letdown. The righty is still a top-10 arm, but he isn’t worth reaching for this spring.

Lindor has been on prospect lists for years, but the 21-year-old is almost ready to burst onto the major league scene. The shortstop has a career .278 average, and he has stolen 20-plus bases in all four of his MiLB seasons. Lindor is an obvious top-10 prospect in all dynasty league formats.

In 118 games in 2014, Seager posted a staggering .349 batting average. He also posted 20 homers, 97 RBIs and 89 runs scored. Seager’s size has eventually forced him to move over to third base, but that won’t diminish his overall fantasy value in the long run. He has become a fantasy gem and it is only a matter of time until the Dodgers finally hand him the everyday job at third.

Russell was the key part of the trade that brought Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to Oakland last season. The youngster can hit for average (.300 career AVG) and he has the speed to average double-digit steals. Even better, he has slugged 30 homers over the past two seasons, which makes him the most intriguing power hitting stopgap among all the prospects.

Correa is by no means a power-hitter, as he has only 18 HRs in 229 MiLB games, but the former first overall pick has now posted a .320 batting average in back-to-back seasons. He also racked up 36 walks last year to go along with 20 SBs. Correa is the next great fantasy stopgap.

Buxton posted a .334 average in 2013 with 125 runs, 55 steals and 49 extra base hits. Unfortunately, he hit just .234 in 31 games in 2014. It wasn’t a huge sample size, but it was still worth taking note of. Either way, Buxton is still the best outfielder prospect in the game, and he looks more like Andrew McCutchen with each passing day.

After slugging 43 home runs, 110 RBIs and a .325 average in 2014, it is hard to imagine a better overall prospect heading into the 2015 season. Bryant has the potential to be a true home run threat, and if he can continue to hit for average, he could be a perennial All-Star.
