The New York Yankees are one of the most popular teams in all of the majors, and as a result, there players are always called out a little earlier than normal in fantasy drafts. To help you rank the Bronx Bombers this season, here are the top five fantasy baseball players on the New York Yankees.

McCann has hit 20 or more home runs in seven of the last eight seasons, and he has become one of the top names at the position. Shockingly, though, McCann has never played in more than 145 games in his 10 previous. He has become a serious injury risk and the backstop will always require fantasy owners to keep another catcher around.

With all the attention in New York on the big name veterans, Gardner has quietly become a very useful fantasy weapon. He showed decent power last season (17 HRs/87 RBIs), but he has also stolen 20-plus bases (21) in back-to-back seasons. Gardner will once again be one of the top late-round outfielders.

Betances only saved on game last season, but he will inherit the full-time closer role with David Robertson now out of the picture. The popular prospect showed immense potential by striking out 135 batters in only 90.1 innings of work. Betances will be a top-10 closer this fantasy season with potential to crack the top-10.

Tanaka looked like a Cy Young candidate last year. He posted a 13-5 record, winning 11 of his first 12 decisions. Unfortunately, a small tear in his UCL caused him to miss most of the second half of the season. He may need Tommy John surgery at some point this season, or he may be able to put it off for a couple of years. Regardless, though, it will cloud his fantasy value in 2015.

In his first season in the Bronx, Ellsbury hit a career-high 16 home runs to go along with 71 runs and 70 RBIs. He also stole 39 stolen bases, while only being caught five times all year. His .271 average/.328 OBP leave something to be desired, but he does everything else for fantasy owners. Ellsbury is the only Yankee worth reaching for this spring.
