Although, yesterday’s lineup scored 298 points, it wasn’t good enough to cash in. As a matter of fact, scores in the 320’s barely cashed. Late value options emerged from the Memphis Grizzlies before lineups locked and it allowed players to fit in more superstars with the salary relief. This is how it goes in the world of daily fantasy basketball and it’s best to move on to the next day rather than dwell on the past. Speaking of which, there are six games scheduled for tonight’s slate and nowhere near the amount of value from last night. With that being said, let’s dive into one of the ways to build the perfect NBA FanDuel lineup for March 8.
(PG) Emmanuel Mudiay - Denver Nuggets - $6,000
Getty ImagesThe pro game has started to slow down for this talented rookie and the result has been 40.6 fantasy points over his last three games. He gets to face the New York Knicks tonight and they've struggled to defend PGs all season. They've experienced even more struggles than usual so far in March and it should lead to a 30-plus night for Mudiay.
(PG) D'Angelo Russell - Los Angeles Lakers - $5,900
Getty ImagesEver since becoming the starting PG for the remainder of the season, D'Angelo Russell has failed to score 30-plus fantasy points only once. I expect him to continue playing well as he faces the Orlando Magic tonight. Orlando has struggled all year against opposing PGs and I can see Russell finishing with 30-40 fantasy points.
(SG) C.J. McCollum - Portland Trail Blazers - $6,900
Getty ImagesC.J. McCollum's price is finally under $7,000 and this means that I feel more comfortable taking him. He will face the Washington Wizards tonight and they're a team that doesn't defend the SG position well. The former Lehigh Mountain Hawk is averaging 35-plus fantasy points over his last two games and I expect him to score the same tonight.
(SG) Evan Fournier - Orlando Magic - $5,300
Getty ImagesAlthough he is listed as an SG, Evan Fournier starts at SF while playing some SG when Victor Oladipo isn't on the floor. He will square off against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight and they've been dreadful against SFs this season. They've been equally as bad against SGs and that bodes well for the young French star. He should score at least 25 fantasy points with 30-plus upside.
(SF) Carmelo Anthony - New York Knicks - $9,100
Getty ImagesIn his last game against his former team, the Denver Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony scored 35.7 fantasy points in 34 minutes. He will face them again tonight and it's a better matchup than it seems. Denver is ranked fourth against SFs this month, but haven't faced a player of Anthony's caliber. He should be able to have his way with them and score 40-plus.
(SF) Kawhi Leonard - San Antonio Spurs - $8,600
Getty ImagesI was a little worried about Kawhi Leonard being rested today, but his name wasn't on the list of Spurs that are out today. Therefore, everything seems good to go for him to play and I love his matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota struggles against opposing SFs and it should lead to Leonard scoring 40-50 fantasy points.
(PF) Aaron Gordon - Orlando Magic - $6,000
Getty ImagesAs long as he can stay out of foul trouble, Aaron Gordon is a great pick for tonight. He will face the Los Angeles Lakers and they're currently ranked 24th in defensive efficiency against opposing PFs. This bodes well for "Air" Gordon and I can easily see him scoring the 30 fantasy points that he needs to make value. It also wouldn't surprise me if he flirted with 40-plus.
(PF) Markieff Morris - Washington Wizards - $5,100
Getty ImagesThe game between the Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers has the highest total points projection tonight. Therefore, I want some exposure to this contest. I already chose C.J. McCollum from Portland and now I'll choose Markieff Morris as my Washington player. Portland is struggling a bit against PFs this month and it should lead to 25-plus for the former Kansas Jayhawk.
(C) Rudy Gobert - Utah Jazz - $6,900
Getty ImagesDespite the game between the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz having the lowest total points projection, it won't deter me from targeting a player in this game. Due to the fact that Atlanta is ranked 23rd against centers this month and 22nd against them this season, I'm rolling with Rudy Gobert. I feel that this matchup should lead to him scoring 35-45 fantasy points.
