Martinsville Speedway is notoriously one of the toughest tracks on the NASCAR circuit. There are nasty wrecks each year and even the big names like Jimmie Johnson have gone through tough stretches in Virginia. So to help you pick the best possible fantasy NASCAR foursome, here are five drivers to avoid for the 2016 STP 500.
5. Greg Biffle
Getty ImagesBiffle is normally one of my favorite sleeper picks in standard fantasy formats, but his numbers in Martinsville are less than stellar. He only has five top-10 finishes in 26 career races on this track to go along with an average finish of 20.04. This is one week to cross the veteran completely off your cheat sheet.
4. Kurt Busch

Busch has two career wins in Martinsville, including a dominating victory back in 2014. Unfortunately, that was his only top-10 performance in the last 20 races here. He will be far too risky to go after this week and should be avoided in all formats.
3. Carl Edwards
Getty ImagesEdwards is typically a decent mid-level option, but the veteran has notoriously struggled at Martinsville. He has failed to crack the top 10 in eight consecutive races and has an average finish of 15.87. Edwards will be a long-shot to crack the top 15 this weekend and won’t be worth the trouble in standard formats.
2. Brad Keselowski
Getty ImagesKeselowski has a rather lackluster past at Martinsville Speedway. Despite being consistently drafted within the top 10 drivers, Keselowski has failed. He will be grabbed far too early this week and will once again disappoint fantasy fans across the board.
1. Jimmie Johnson
Getty ImagesJohnson will be the consensus top fantasy pick this weekend. He has eight career wins in Martinsville and an average finish of 7.46. Unfortunately, he has an average finish of 26.3 over the past three races on this track. Johnson may be one of the biggest names in fantasy, but the superstar simply won’t be worth the astronomical asking price this week.
