@BizNasty2point0: NHL Adopts Social Media Policy

JASON O. WATSON – US PRESSWIRE

Oddly enough, the National Hockey League is following the footsteps of two major sporting associations who faced or are currently facing huge lockout issues.

On Wednesday, according to Jordan Shifman of CBC Sports, the NHL announced that it will institute a social media policy for the 2011-12 season.

The National Football League and National Basketball Association have had social media policies in place which “restrict the use of social media on game days” for about two years now.

From the CBC article:

Highlights of the policy include a social media blackout window before, during and after games, as well as during practice and any other team obligations. Any use of social media applications such as Twitter or Facebook in violation of these rules may be subject to an undisclosed punishment.

Uh-oh. Looks like famed Phoenix Coyotes enforcer Paul Bissonnette (@BizNasty2point0) will have to spend some more time working on his game. His on-ice game, that is.
