Carmelo Anthony to the Golden State Warriors?
Should the Warriors go after Carmelo? What if it means giving up Ellis and Biedrins, the “backbone” at one point of this cycle. (Although it is hard define a cycle since with the Warriors because of our inconsistent personnel decisions)
Curry is capable at the 1 but Monta and Biedrins need lead the Warriors back to the Playoffs
Nevertheless I think it would be a big mistake. I still like our core and would like to see what these guys can do when they are healthy. I know we are further and further removed from the WE BELIVE season of 2006-2007 but not far enough that the fans have lost the taste of success, and wether they want to acknowledge it or not, Monta and Biedrins were there and are the only guys on the roster that can lead us back to the promised land.
Let’s give them a chance. Monta is an All-Star in this league and if it’s going to happen it’s going to be this year. He turns 25 in a month and should be entering into his prime. He’s now 2 years removed from his Evil Knievel days and there should be no more lingering effects of the injury unless his ankle goes the Grant Hill route. Biedrins, assuming he’s healthy is one of the most efficient big men in the league, and although he’s not the ideal fit in Nelson’s system, I’m holding out hope that Smart is going to be the coach at the start of the season.
I know Mullin is long gone but there is still hope that his franchise players Ellis and Biedrins can take us back to the promised land
So I hope the Warriors give this group a chance, Carmelo may be nice for a 1 year ride to a first round playoff loss but Ellis and Biedrins still have the potential to be the back bone that Chris Mullin envisioned them to be. With Curry at the point and a future All-Star caliber 3 man in Dorrell Wright, this team is not far away from getting there.
