VIDEO: Bo Van Pelt Hole In One At The Masters
Bo Van Pelt had himself a day on Sunday at the Masters. Van Pelt carded a 64, which was by far his best round of the weekend. His 30 on the back nine was punctuated by a hole in one at the 16th hole. If the hole is placed right, it can be a difficult hole, but Van Pelt took it to task.
It was a beautiful golf shot. He struck it perfectly and the contour of the green did the rest. That was probably the most exciting moment of the Masters so far, barring a miracle run to the title by someone.
Phil Mickelson has been the biggest headline maker all tournament, but we will have to see if he can top Van Pelt on Sunday. A Mickelson win would be well received by almost everyone. Lefty struggled on Thursday but has been charging ever since. His round on Saturday was punctuated with his signature flop shot, which allowed him to pull into second place.
Just think, Van Pelt finished the tournament at one under. That means he was seven over par going into today. That is terrific shooting to finish under par and put himself in position to play in the tournament next year. The top 16 finishers qualify for the tournament next year and Van Pelt is right there on the bubble.
Augusta always delivers the magic on Sunday. This hole in one set the proper tone for the day. We will see if it can continue until the final conclusion.
