If you had Kevin Streelman, Charley Hoffman or rookie Steve LeBrun as the second round leader in your pool for the RBC Heritage you were spot on. The three men currently share the lead at six under par. Not everyone got to finish their rounds before weather halted play for the day, but the three leaders have a safe hold on the 36-hole lead.
Streelman is looking for his second win this year and also the second of his PGA Tour career. He won earlier in 2013 at the Tampa Bay Championship and, thanks to that win, currently sits at eight in the FedEx Cup standings. Hoffman has been up and down throughout a career that includes two wins, the most recent of which came in 2010. LeBrun has made three cuts in eight events this year and has finished in the top 25 once. This trio of leaders is far from intimidating but they are certainly still capable of holding off the field.
Someone who didn’t fare so well on Friday at Harbour Town Golf Links, however, was Brandt Snedeker, who is on the verge of missing the cut. Snedeker, who collapsed in the final round of The Masters, currently sits at two over par after completing his first two rounds. The projected cut line is at one over par. There is a small chance that cut line will move to include those sitting at two over par, but it is far from a guarantee.
The weather got progressively worse as the day progressed, as the fact that play was halted might indicate. It’s always difficult to score when trying to deal with the elements, as wind and rain can wreak havoc on a golf game. The second round is expected to conclude tomorrow and tournament officials anticipate being able to complete the entire third round, as well.
