The Green Bay Packers had a great run in 2010 on their way to winning the Super Bowl. Last season it looked like the Packers were going to easily make a return trip to the big game, but had a disappointing loss in the playoffs. However, they did finish the regular season with a record of 15-1 and look unstoppable for parts of the season.

Going into the 2012 season, the Packers are once again the Super Bowl favorites. They have revamped their defense and still have most of their pieces on the offensive side of the ball that was so dominant last year. However, there are some things things that need to be improved if Green Bay is going to win another Super Bowl this season.

Improve pass rush- This is an obvious area of improvement for the Packers. They were ranked 27th in the league in sacks with 29 and had no good pass rusher outside of Clay Matthews. However, Matthews was constantly double-teamed which left more of a load for the other players on the line and they were not able to get the job done. Now with the addition of first-round draft pick Nick Perry, the Packers have high hopes for the pass rush. If Perry is able to show even the slightest glimpse of dominance, the Packers should be able to pressure the quarterback on a much more regular basis.

Better safety play- After the injury to Nick Collins last season, the Packers had trouble filling his spot. There was numerous times during the season where there were blown coverages or the safeties were getting faked-out by double moves from receivers. Collins was the general for the Packers’ secondary and with him out a big part of the team went missing. Now this season, veteran cornerback Charles Woodson will be taking over at safety. If Woodson is able to play half as well at safety as he does at cornerback, the Packers should have no worries at the free safety position this year.

Catch the ball- It is one of the simplest things about football. The quarterback throws the ball, then the wide receiver catches it. Yet sometimes the simplest things in life can wind up being the most difficult.

The Packers are loaded at the wide receiver position and have plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball, however, there are still times where they come up with untimely drops. The player who does this the most is tight end Jermichael Finley. The Packers tight end makes some fantastic plays on the field yet messes up some of the easy catches that he should make. If he can hang onto the ball more often, the Packer passing attack may even be better than it was last season.

The Packers don’t have many flaws on their team, but just like any other team in the league they do have them. If the Green Bay Packers are able to minimize their mistakes in these areas, then another Super Bowl win should be in the near future.
