Last season was an incredible season for the Green Bay Packers and their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Packers finished the regular season with a record of 15-1 and they were led by Rodgers and the high-powered offense. Rodgers had numbers that were off the charts which included 45 touchdown passes to just six interceptions.

Rodgers was the unanimous choice for the MVP which was the first of his career. His efficiency was something that was never seen before in the NFL and it is hard for anyone to think that he will have a repeat of his excellent 2011 season. However, if you compare Rodgers to other great quarterbacks in history, you will see that Rodgers hasn’t reached the peak of his career yet.

Quarterbacks such as Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, didn’t have their best years in the league until their seventh of eighth years in the NFL. Just like any other athlete in sports, that is when a player is around the age of 28 or 29 which is usually considered someone’s prime. Manning was in his seventh season with the Colts when he had his most dominant year, throwing  a then record 49 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. As for Brady, it was also in his seventh season where he became the first quarterback to throw for 50 touchdowns in a season and helped the New England Patriots have an undefeated regular season.

Rodgers technically is entering his eighth season in the league so his fantastic year in 2011 was his seventh season which means he is just like Manning and Brady, having incredible seventh season. However, This will only be Rodgers’ fifth year playing in the league, as he sat on the bench during his first three seasons as a pro. So while Rodgers might be a little older when he reaches his prime, he still has nowhere but up to go. There is a young team surrounding the Packers and there are multiple receivers who Rodgers can rely on week after week. The west coast offense is something that fits right into his playing style and he is able to take advantage of his quick release.

Another thing that sets Rodgers apart from other quarterbacks is his confidence. Rodgers knows he has the team behind him and the ability to duplicate what he did in 2011. Confidence is a big part in what makes any player great and with the level the Packers have been playing at the past few seasons, it’s clear why Rodgers has this confidence.

The Packers open this season as the Super Bowl favorites and Rodgers performance last season is a big reason why many people believe they will be back in the big game. Last season was no fluke for Rodgers and fans of other teams should be worried as he is about to start another big season.
