Houston Rockets: Toyota Center to Host 2013 All Star Game?
According to multiple reports last week, the Houston Rockets—and their home of the Toyota Center—will play host to the 2013 All Star Game.
This is great news for a city who played host to the Super Bowl in February of 2004, the MLB All Star Game in the very same year, and the NBA All Star Game in 2006. It’s been a long time since we’ve host a major even like this in the city, and the Houston Rockets will on center stage.
Hopefully that year we’ll have something to cheer about.
After yet another season without a playoff birth, despite the great job he did with a roster of nobodies, Rick Adelman was shown the door.
Kevin McHale has taken over after many dismal years as the Minnesota Timberwolves general manager, including a couple stints as the interim coach.
Let’s hope he’s better at coaching talent then finding it. The Hall of Famer certainly has enough credentials as a player to gain respect from his players. That discussion is for another day.
The list of Rockets greats who could be brought back for the events is a long one, and could even include Yao Ming as a spokesperson.
Despite retiring from the NBA, Yao expects to be an integral part of the NBA and maybe in charge of keeping Chinese interest in the game.
The only thing that could change is if the season is postponed as a result of the current lockout state we’re in. The 2012 game is set to be played in Orlando, and NBA Commissioner David Stern said if that game is missed, the rotation would be moved back a year.
As much as I love the All Star game, I’ll probably be booking my tickets to the slam dunk contest. Blake Griffin better be there.
