Paul George Shines in BBVA Rising Stars Challenge
NBA All-Star weekend 2012 kicked off Friday night, with the celebrity game, and the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Paul George, a second-year guard for the Indiana Pacers, helped “Team Chuck” overcome “Team Shaq”.
Team Chuck, which consisted of rookie and sophomore players such as Paul George, Kyrie Irving, and Evan Turner, bested Team Shaq by a score of 146-133. Irving, the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, led the game with 34 points and nine assists. The rookie was also 8-8 from the three-point line. Irving’s teammate, Tristan Thompson, led Team Shaq with 20 points, shooting 10-11 from the floor.
Indiana’s Paul George, who will also compete in Saturday’s slam dunk contest, scored 23 points in the win for Team Chuck. The Pacers will also be represented in the NBA All-Star game on Sunday by Roy Hibbert, who will be making his first NBA All-Star appearance.
