Cleveland Cavaliers Fall to Indiana Pacers in Overtime for Second Time This Season
The Indiana Pacers had a double digit lead early in the fourth quarter of their Wednesday night match-up against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland, playing at home against Indiana, then went on an 18-1 run, to take a seven point lead themselves. The game went back and forth in the fourth, resulting in the second overtime match between these two teams this year. Wednesday’s game was the fifth overtime match for each team already this season.
Indiana rallied in the overtime period, holding Cleveland to four points, and eventually outlasting the pesky Cavs, 104-98. These two teams will meet again at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indiana on Friday, for a fourth and final time this season. Indiana has won two of their three meetings, but Cleveland has been a thorn in Indiana’s side all season long. The Cavs are only 19-37 on the season, but have forced overtime against Indiana twice, and have also defeated the Pacers, winning 98-87 in Cleveland on February 15th.
NBA All-Star center, Roy Hibbert, shined for the Pacers on Wednesday. Hibbert racked up 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and four blocked shots. The game marked Hibbert’s 17th double-double of the season, and the 21st time Hibbert has gotten three or more blocks.
Indiana head coach Frank Vogel was pleased with his teams perseverence. “We set a goal…to be at least over .500 on the road. This was our 17th road win, so we accomplished that goal. We have two road wins we still want to get, but we’re over .500, so check that off the list.”
