NBA Rumors: Indiana Pacers Interested in Josh Howard
Certain NBA rumors around the Indiana Pacers, have the young team drawing interest in small forward Josh Howard. Howard, a 32 year-old veteran, was a first round pick in the 2003 draft. Howard was signed to a one-year contract in December of 2011 by the Utah Jazz, and played in 43 games for the Jazz last season.
Howard, a former NBA All-Star, has played for three teams during his career. He suffered an ACL injury in February of 2010, only ten days after being traded to the Washington Wizards. After rehabbing the injury, he returned to play in 18 more games for the Wizards, before being picked up by the Jazz. Howard also had surgery on his left knee in March.
In nine years, between the regular season and the playoffs, Josh Howard has played in 562 career games as a pro. The small forward can also play big at the shooting guard position, which is the type of versatility that the Pacers enjoy on their roster. Indiana, one of the youngest teams in the league, is always looking for veterans to be good on the bench and in the locker room, and to help guide their talent of the future. The Pacers have made several moves and additions in the past few weeks to strengthen their already-deep bench, and there is a distinct possibility that Indiana is not done making off season moves yet. Still, there are only so many open spots on this roster, and there is obviously a lot of miles or Josh Howard’s tires. The Pacers could use another talented veteran, but it’s hard to see exactly where this one would fit.
