As 57.9 million people watched Eli Manning and the Giants advance to this years Super Bowl in Indianapolis, you can’t help but remember how good Peyton Manning is after watching his little brother.

The Colts and Peyton have been quite successful together, and it wasn’t because of a certain coach, it was because of Manning and being so good at what he does. I am sure Eli made Peyton very proud as the Giants won the NFC on Sunday. Eli has emerged finally out of Peyton’s shadow and now they are their own quarterback, both elite and both incredibly reliable.

As a Colt fan you’ve had to think, why are we even considering getting rid of Peyton? Manning is one of the best quarterbacks of our time maybe even ever. He needs a chance to become healthy and return as a starter in 2012. That decision has yet to be made, but you would have to consider the Colts organization completely crazy to think let Manning go and start Andrew Luck. Teams have shown interest in the 35-year-old quarterback, some of them being  AFC teams. Do you think his career is over and his good years are behind him? Do you feel safe to see him go to another team where you may have to play them in the regular season or even worse, the playoffs. I know I wouldn’t bet against Manning.

Manning has shown throughout the years his hard work and dedication to the sport of football, and it would be a travesty to see him go to another team. It has happened in the past. Joe Montana went to the Chiefs to make room for Steve Young. The Packers moved Brett Favre to the New York Jets to make room for Aaron Rodgers. Both of these scenarios resulted into a good thing. However, what those two situations have in common is that both successors had time to learn from those elite quarterbacks before given the starting job. The worst thing the Colts could do is let Manning go before even seeing if Luck can make it in the NFL.

Regardless of what they do one thing is for sure, there will be a Manning playing on February 4 in Indianapolis and another cheering his little brother on.
