According to several sources, the Indianapolis Colts have acquired cornerback Josh Gordy in a trade with the St. Louis Rams. In return, Colts general manger Ryan Grigson gave an undisclosed 2014 draft pick. The Colts also waived linebacker Larry Lumpkin to make room for the cornerback.
Gordy played 14 games for the Rams last season, starting in nine of them. The 25-year-old was pretty solid, totaling 53 tackles and leading the team in interceptions with three.
He was undrafted out of Central Michigan, starting out in 2010 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he ultimately played for the Green Bay Packers that season, having only one tackle.
This is one of several trades by Grigson this offseason. He has so far acquired D.J. Johnson and Cassius Vaughn through trades too. The Colts also traded away cornerback Kevin Thomas to the Philadelphia Eagles, signed Justin King and acquired Korey Lindsey off of waivers.
The moves keep coming for Indianapolis. We’ll see how they do with their new and improved secondary.
