Coming into his 13th season with the Indianapolis Colts, long-snapper Justin Snow looked to keep doing what he has been for his career, being the longest-tenured player on the team. That was until Friday, when it was announced that he was cut by Indianapolis, as NFL teams make their 53-man roster cuts.
Snow was due $925,000 this year until he lost his position battle with Matt Overton during the pre-season.
“It’s obvious they are going in a different direction,’’ Snow’s agent, Kevin Gold told the Indianapolis Star. “I can say Justin still wants to play and he leaves (Indy) with no regrets.’’
Snow was an undrafted rookie out of Baylor in 2000 and never missed a single game during his tenure with Indianapolis. His 192 consecutive game played ranks second behind quarterback Peyton Manning, who played 208.
It seems that Overton was the younger and cheaper option. At 27 years old and due to make about $390,000 next season, the Colts decided to go with the route of him taking over long-snapping duties. Overton has bounced around the NFL, even making stops in the Arena Football League and UFL.
More cuts will be coming soon as the full 53-man roster will be announced soon for the Colts.
