If that’s the case, then I don’t want him as my quarterback. Obviously, the ideal situation is to sit him for a few seasons. But in this case, we did not have that option. Duty called when a career third-stringer at best started and threw too many INTs.
And if Gabbert’s the kind of guy who’s going to permanently be shaking in his boots like some PTSD Nam veteran because of this season, he doesn’t have the balls to be our QB at all. Ever.
You are right, there is no excuse for his lack of toughness in the pocket and I am not sure that is something that can be fixed with coaching.
I am, however, willing to give him a full offseason and another season with better weapons surrounding him to show he can play QB in the NFL.
