K.C. Royals vs. Minnesota Twins Series Preview & Tidbits
The Royals remain at Kauffman Stadium as they continue their longest home-stand of the season. Following their come-from-behind series win against the Angels, the division-rival Minnesota Twins come to Kansas City for a 4-game weekend series:
Thurs. June. 2. 7:10 pm CT - Anthony Swarzak (0-2, 3.60) v. Sean O’Sullivan (2-4, 6.75)
Fri. June. 3. 7:10 pm CT - Carl Pavano (2-5, 5.19) v. Danny Duffy (0-0, 4.11)
Sat. June. 4. 6:10 pm CT - Nick Blackburn (4-4, 3.57) v. Luke Hochevar (3-5, 4.96)
Sun. June. 5. 1:10 pm CT - Brian Duensing (2-5, 5.37) v. TBA
For a franchise as consistently in playoff contention as Ron Gardenhire’s Twinkies, who saw this coming? As they enter the month of June, Minnesota has the worst record in baseball, trail the division-leading Indians by 16.5 games, and are in a world of turmoil and injuries. Yikes!
Should be interesting to see how the Royals bullpen situation plays itself out. Manager Ned Yost has elected to go with Aaron Crow as his new closer. Let’s hope the rookie has what it takes to buckle down and handle the gruels of Kansas City’s closing role. Likewise, how will Joakim Soria rebound in an unfamiliar earlier inning spot?
