2012 College Football Preseason Top 25 Rankings In My Eyes
Every college football fan eagerly awaits two things during the month of August, the release of the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 and the Associated Press Writer’s Poll Top 25. The USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 was released earlier this week and caused fans from every fanbase to shriek in joy or disappointment.
Does Alabama deserve the No.1 spot because they won the national title? What about Matt Barkley and the Trojans? Where do they fit in the top-5? Does the SEC really deserve to have 5 teams in the top 25? Will Florida State actually live up to the hype and put together a good season?
After looking over the poll for the first time, I found myself asking these questions. I discovered that the coaches and I disagreed on where certain teams should be in the rankings and decided to compile my own rankings.
Here are my Top 25 College Football teams entering the 2012 season:
- Alabama
- LSU
- USC
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Michigan
- Arkansas
- Wisconsin
- West Virginia
- South Carolina
- Clemson
- Michigan State
- Florida State
- Texas
- Stanford
- TCU
- Georgia Tech
- Nebraska
- Florida
- Oklahoma State
- Louisville
- Kansas State
- Virginia Tech
- Boise State
The rankings will change from week to week but I believe Alabama has the best chance to reach the national title game once again, which is why they are ranked No.1. I highly doubt there will be two SEC teams in the national championship again, so I expect Matt Barkley’s Trojans to win the Pac-12 and earn a berth to play the Crimson Tide. The Michigan Wolverines can find themselves in a BCS Bowl if Denard Robinson develops as a quarterback. West Virginia is another team to watch for as they face a weaker level of competition than in the SEC and Pac-12 while playing in the Big-12. Speaking of the SEC, they have four teams ranked in the top 8. There is a strong chance two of them make it into BCS Bowls.
