It’s been a long, hot, dog days of summer, and it’s finally over.
College football is here, and the writers from Rant Sports will be live blogging the action throughout the evening, giving you our takes on what we see, and what we anticipate from the 2012 college football season.
Tonight’s premier games include a South Carolina Gamecocks / Vanderbilt Commodores matchup that has plenty of people intrigued. The Gamecocks are a Rant Sports Top 10 preseason squad and arguably have one of the best teams yet in the Steve Spurrier era. Vanderbilt has had new life injected into the program with the arrival of head coach James Franklin and his unrelenting recruiting of the southern states.
Can Vandy pull off an opening night upset on national television, or, will the Gamecocks get off to the start that’s expected of them?
The other game later this evening which is getting attention is Mike Leach‘s debut with the Washington State Cougars as they take on their namesake, the BYU Cougars. Wazzu will open up the field and throw the majority of the time and regardless of how they play defensively, will be a nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators. There’s some uncertainty surrounding BYU which tonight’s game could go a long way in clearing up.
There are plenty of other games taking place across the country that are just as important to those teams’ seasons. See one we should be watching? Let us know!
