The Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes square off every year in one of college football’s biggest rivalries, the battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy. At Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, the Macaque monkeys take part in an annual tradition– which started in 2011– to make their pick for the game’s winner.
This time around, the Macaques (as pictured below) chose the Hawkeyes for this Saturday’s tilt at Kinnick Stadium:
Don’t be fooled folks, that’s not a domesticated monkey looking at you with that big, toothy grin and matted coat. Who is it, you ask? None other than the embodiment of the great Angry Iowa Running Back Hating God himself, AIRBHG.
AIRBHG has decided, since 2011, that it isn’t enough to snap the ACLs of each of Iowa’s running backs like twigs and he might as well take things to the next level, picking the Hawkeyes to take home the Cy-Hawk, even though he will allow nothing of the sort.
Try as they might, the Hawkeyes will be hopeless against the power of this Macaque who is sure to be watching from Blank Park Zoo with the intensity of a thousand suns. You never know where AIRBHG will appear next, or to what shape he will shift.
Just ask the past eight Iowa running backs, or so.
H/T to the Des Moines Register.
