Los Angeles Clippers 2012-13 Schedule: Key Mid-Season Games
LOS ANGELES — Last season the Los Angeles Clippers became one of the most exciting and promising young teams in the league. After defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in a hard fought 1st round series, the Clippers were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Still, with their young nucleus intact and the addition of key veterans in the offseason, the sky is the limit for this Clipper organization.
The Clippers should get off to a fast start as they begin the season with a majority of home games. As they move to mid-season they will be tested however, as they deal with some tough road games. The month of January will see nine of sixteen of the Clippers games on the road with February being even more brutal with nine of thirteen games falling on the road.
One of their big mid-season games will be against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, January 4th 2013 as these two teams will battle for bragging rights for the city of L.A.
On Tuesday January 22nd, last season’s scoring champion Kevin Durant and the Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder will arrive at Staples Center to face the Clips. This will be an excellent mid-season test for Los Angeles.
February will bring some tough road games for the Clippers. From January 30th through February 11th the Clippers will embark on an eight game road trip. Sunday February 3rd, the Clips will arrive in Boston to face Rajon Rondo and the new look Celtics with the addition of Jason Terry, then on Friday February 8th they will arrive in Miami to square off against Lebron James and the World Champion Miami Heat in a nationally televised game!
This brutal road swing will also have the Clippers stopping in Madison Square Garden on Sunday February 10th to take on Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks in another huge nationally televised game!
The Clips will once again face their co-tenant rivals when they take on Steve Nash and the Los Angeles Lakers again on Thursday February 14th, a game that will be seen on TNT. Mid-season will be a crucial time for the Los Angeles Clippers to stay focused and not become complacent. If the Clips can remain strong and have success on the road they should have no trouble positioning themselves to win the Pacific Division and make a deep run into the playoffs.
