So, it looks like while the Dodgers aren’t going to add much to the lineup this season (read: nothing) but it seems they want to make sure they’re deep in their rotation and are looking at Aaron Harang.
It’s not a bad choice, he did finish 4th in the Cy Young race back in 2007 and led the league in wins and strikeouts in 2006 even thought it was only 216 strikeouts and 16 wins. He’s a solid guy, who pitches deep into a lot of games but he has one glaring weakness…home-runs and we saw how that worked out with Ted Lilly last year right?
While he had his best year ERA wise, it was mainly because it seemed the Padres made sure he got plenty of starts at home, 16 in total where he had a 3.05 ERA and on the road he had a 4.70 ERA.
The only good thing is he made $3.5 mill with the Padres last season and he shouldn’t make too much more than that this season since I’m sure everyone knows his ERA was a huge factor of Petco.
I think it’s a solid option for #4, and maybe even as a #5 if Hiroki Kuroda re-ups but I like the guy for the Dodgers, who have always done pretty well with fly ball pitchers, especially as the air changes towards the end of the year.
Oh yeah, and the dude is huuuuuge. He’s 6 freakin 7, 260 lbs, why wasn’t this guy a hitter? Or an NFL Tight End…jazus.
