The Miami Dolphins have picked up former Houston Texans RB Steve Slaton off waivers on Thursday.

Slaton was a 1,000 yard back as a rookie in 2008, but has seen himself fall on the depth chart behind Pro Bowler Arian Foster and newcomer Ben Tate.

Slaton was the No. 89 pick out of West Virginia, but has been said to have not fully recovered from a neck injury. He was cut by Houston on Tuesday.

The move doesn’t figure to take away touches from rookie Daniel Thomas, or according to multiple sources, Reggie Bush. Slaton is the second vet to be signed by Miami in the last month.

Larry Johnson was brought in by the Dolphins last month, but cut twice since.

Defensive lineman Ryan Baker was cut to make room for Slaton.
