The Miami Heat defeated the New Jersey Nets 101-90 on Saturday night. It was Miami’s third straight victory. It was also the third straight game missed due to injury for All Stat Dwayne Wade. The injury to Wade’s left foot originally occurred in a matchup last week in Minnesota. Miami coach Eric Spoelstra is clearly erring on the side of caution with Wade. The strike shortened season has made for a grueling early season schedule. Miami needs Wade for the longhaul, notably the playoffs, and should wait until he is close to 100% before inserting him back in the lineup.
The victory over New Jersey moves the Heat to 8-1 on the season. LeBron James, who missed the Thursday night game in Atlanta with a twisted ankle, led the Heat with 32 points and nine assists in the win over the Nets. Udonis Haslem pitched in with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes off the Miami bench.
