Miami Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen To Meet Media Regarding Comments
What a surprise, Ozzie Guillen of the Miami Marlins put his foot in his mouth. This isn’t the first nor will it be the last time Ozzie Guillen has made statements that have offended a large amount of people. This time, Guillen decided to talk about what a good man Fidel Castro is. If you don’t know, Castro is the former or current (no idea how it’s run over there now that his son or brother is in charge) of Cuba. Cuba and the USA have been at odds for long before I was born, and most view the man as a tyrant in serious violation of basic human rights.
Is this a ploy to take the attention off the slow starting Miami Marlins? I don’t know. Either way, Ozzie Guillen continues to be an idiot, and it’s time for baseball to step in and start suspending the volatile manager for his insensitive comments.
Guillen has continued to apologize.
“I will apologize if I hurt somebody’s feelings, or I hurt somebody’s thought,” Guillen told writers on Saturday. “I want them to know I’m against everything 100 percent — I repeat it again — the way this man (has been) treating people for the last 60 years.”
Uh, really Ozzie? That was a quick change of pace after you said this:
“Guillen told Time magazine for an article published last week that he loves Castro and respects him for staying in power so long.”
Nice. I’m sure Jeffrey Loria will have a great time trying to put out that fire. Why do you continue to act like an idiot Ozzie? Yes, we all know there is a right to free speech in this country, but have some sense. Or don’t- either way you continue to look like the biggest idiot in the world and you will eventually lose your job, and never will work in baseball again. I’m pretty sure the game will be better when that day comes.

his son? lmao…shows how much you know about Cuba… his brother is in charge and as for the comments Ozzie made….they were taken out of context, no where does it say that Ozzie approves of Castro’s character…. he just admires the fact that he has stayed in power so long… who cares…. now the media is out to fry him for comments that were misunderstood…
You’re 100% correct. I don’t know much about Cuba these days.
Regardless, It’s Ozzie. Everything that comes out of his mouth will be extra scrutinized. He’s earned that, and deserves what he gets.
Typically, common sense in media training tells you that discussing someone like Fidel Castro in a positive light- in this country- is a bad idea.
