BREAKING: Rick Adelman Confirmed as Head Coach of Timberwolves
Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune is reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement with former Rockets coach Rick Adelman to become the new head coach of the franchise. Adelman coached this last season with the Rockets and his contract was not renewed. Here is the Tweet confirming the news.
I love this move for Minnesota. Adelman was my favorite for the job the entire time over Sam Mitchell and Don Nelson. This will mean Kevin Love will stay in Minnesota. This also will help the development of Ricky Rubio and the other young stars of this team. Adelman employs an offense that uses the fast break effectively, which should help shorten the learning curve for Rubio. I expect the Timberwolves to make some noise this season and possibly threaten for the 8th seed in the Western Conference. If not, they will be back in the playoffs within the next three years. You can bank on that.
When the length of the contract and dollar value becomes available, we will bring that to you.
Update: According to Yahoo Sports, Adelman will make 5 million dollars a season. Not to shabby for a 65 year old. Link is here. I recommend reading it if you love David Kahn bashing. I sure do.
