The Miami Marlins have a huge series coming up with the New York Mets this weekend but the team decided to take a little time of to dress like the USA Men’s Water Polo team. It is a fun change and could be a possible morale booster as the club definitely needs it after the disappointing season that they has been having. The Marlins will be “gallivanting” through the Big Apple Thursday night according to Giancarlo Stanton.
It is not a bad idea to change it up from the norm as manager Ozzie Guillen has been in the news again for comments regarding Toronto Blue Jays shorstop Yunel Escobar‘s three-game suspension he received for writing a homophobic slur on his eye-black during a game this past weekend.
Guillen told the Miami Hearld:
“I think he just did it for fun. I know he didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. Nobody is that stupid… In my house, we call [each other] that word every 20 seconds. I’ve got three kids—for us, it’s like ‘What’s up, bro? What’s up, dude?’ It’s how you say it and to who you say it. But that’s our country. We have to respect this country. Sometimes for us it’s funny, for other people it’s not.”
I’m pretty sure this is another foot-in-mouth moment for Guillen and who knows if this could be the last kind of moment he has with the Marlins as the team is expecting to make some changes this offseason. Some say Guillen’s job is safe but by the looks of it he does not have his mouth or his team in control.
